Baseball

Baseball is open to junior high boys ages 10-13 (5th-8th grade) and high school boys ages 14-18 (9th-12th grade) who are homeschoolers or attend a school that does not offer a baseball program.

For spring 2025, Brazos Valley Mustangs have two programs:

  • Varsity:  Ages 14 - 17 (as of May 31, 2024)
  • Junior High: Ages 10 - 13 (as of May 31, 2024)

Registration for baseball takes place in early January. Practices begin in late January. Games typically begin in late February and go through early May. Coaches may offer practices in the fall as well. Announcements can be found on the BVCHEA Facebook group.

The regular registration fee is determined by number of tournaments, home games, and sponsorships. The team will provide a baseball cap and jersey to each player.  Players are responsible for purchasing pants, cleats, belt, socks, gloves, and bats.

The Mustangs baseball team plays area home school, public, and private school sponsored teams.  They play two tournaments each year, including the opportunity to earn a TAIAO state baseball championship.

A player who is 14 as of May 31st must play for a High School team according to current TAIAO rules. Players who turn 14 between June 1st and September 1st have the option to play Junior High, but will need to discuss the play-down exception with the coach. Please email info@bvchea.org if you are requesting a play-down exception.

Players are allowed 4 consecutive years of eligibility at the high school level. For questions about age and eligibility, visit the TAIAO website or contact us.
